Whenever it’s holiday season in South Africa, the Tee Off Team get excited because this is the time we get the chance to visit some of the most charming golf courses in our beautiful country. This year we chose to keep it close to home and see what the Eastern Cape has to offer for our golf lovers that likes to explore and to play on different golf courses.
The golf course that “wowed” me the most was the Royal Port Alfred Golf Course. The Golf course is situated in Port Alfred, Eastern Cape which is on the coast (more or less halfway between Port Elizabeth and Port Alfred) and the team was pleasantly surprise to see how much this course offers to their visitors. Not only is this a lovely golf course, but you get the best of both worlds with views of the sea and a touch of African nature. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to see so much wild life so close to the sea! I’m not sure that the pictures that I’ve taken will bring out to true beauty of what I’ve seen, but I will share my images with you, just to give you an idea what I’ve experienced.
The clubhouse is well-looked after with good facilities for visitors. It has a well equipped golf shop and the kitchen staff will make sure that there is always something nice to eat with a fully licensed bar to quench your thirst.
The dressing rooms and lockers are spacious and clean, just as you would expect from a top grade golf course.
Enough of the clubhouse, let’s talk about the course (that is actually the reason for our visit!) The Royal Port Alfred is a full 18 hole golf course designed by Bod Grimdell. It is one of the oldest and best known in South Africa and was established in 1907.
Thank you Royal Port Alfred, we are looking forward to our next Tee Off at the Sunny Coast Easter Cape.
